    Armed Police Force Rejected By UN From Maali Mission

    he government had appointed Acting Inspector General (IG) of Armed Police Force (APF), Durja Kumar Rai for the post of Inspector General . The Inspector General insignia was conferred to Rai following a meeting of the Council of Ministers. Rai has become appointed the acting IG of the force after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a graft case against the then APF Inspector General Kosh Raj Onta. Onta was under CIAA scanner for embezzling millions of rupees while purchasing and supplying goods for APF units and construction works of art. Following the suspension of former APF Chief Onta, Rai along with AIGs Jivan Kumar Thapa and Krishna Kumar Tamang were the frontrunner for your post. But the government appointed Rai as APF chief based on his seniority. Born in eastern region of country, Bhojpur, Rai joined Nepal Police as Inspector in February 1987. He was relocated to the Armed Police Force as a Superintendent of Police in 2001. Rai is charged with suppressing 2006 people’s movement
