Chandra Kant Raut is a Nepalese computer engineer with an author who has been actively involved in demanding the secession of the Madhesh region from Nepal Government occupation and end to racism imposed historically by Pahari origin Bahun and Chhetri elites on Madhesi Nepalis. He has been under house-arrest by the government of Nepal since July. Dr. Raut was born a good Adivasi (indigenous to Nepal) Satar (Rajdhob) family in Mahadeva Village, near Koshi Barrage, Bhardah in the Saptari district, Sagarmatha Zone of Nepal. He attended primary school in his home village, and high school graduation in nearby Katti also. He went on to attend Tribhuvan University (Nepal), Tokyo University (Japan) and Cambridge University (UK). He is a recipient of Young Nepalese Engineer Award, Mahendra Bidhya Bhusan, Kulratna Gold Medal, and Trofimenkoff Academic Achievement Award among others
