The trade of eggs, meats and poultry has been suspended in the core city area of Pokhara of Kaski district for 10 days after tests found that more chickens died of bird winter flu. The District Bird Flu Technical Committee came to the conclusion on Saturday.The suspension will be effective in wards 1-18 of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan Bility. Information Officer at the District Livestock Service Office, Thagendra Prasad Aryal, informed that a test found that the cause of the death of 70 chickens at the farm of Dipendra KC in Khaltemasina was bird flu, forcing the Committee to impose the ban.Earlier, on february 25, ducks at the farm of Mina Pariyar had been found contaminated with the virus. Following the discovery, as many as 256 chickens, 41 ducks, 67 eggs and some meat had been destroyed and a close scrutiny had been launched.Authorities said they were investigating about how the flu spread the actual planet city.
