Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has underlined the need of announcing the date for elections within February 7 after having all the legislations you will the local election passed from the Legislature-Parliament within that period. Leader Poudel said this while asking journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival home from Mexico today after participating from a programme organised by the party’s sister wing, Janasamparka Samiti, South Korea. He was quoted saying if the local elections take place within May this year, then song would be possible to hold the election of the Province Assemblies and the Federal Parliament within November. “There is not an alternative to holding all of the three tiers of elections for enforcement of the constitution and the parties should be serious on this,” he said. Additionally questioned the possibility for this election given the Madhesi Front’s stance that political election results cannot take place with no constitution amendment, the UML’s stand that elections should be held foregoing the constitution amendment and the Prime Minister’s emphasis on holding the election only after patching up the two divergent views. Poudel also demanded that the Madhesi Front parties should make their views on the report of the Local Body Restructuring Commission, urging all parties to work together for holding the election
