A march-past was held from local Samakhushi Chowk to Macchapokhari Chowk today, celebrating the 107th International Women’s Day. The event was attended by representatives from around a half dozen of organisations including the Positive Development Communications Centre, Sushmita Foundation, Youth Advocacy Nepal and Progressive Women Society. In his speech following the conclusion of the event, CPN ( UML) lawmaker Sher Bahadur Tamang said the Nepal’s constitution has given more rights to the women and such rights would be ensured only with the enforcement of the country’s main law. Presently women occupying three key posts of the State — President, Chief Justice and Speaker– is an achievement of the constitution, he added. Women making up more than fifty percent of the country’s population should continue their struggle for their rights.
