The Moroccan woman Zahra Aboutalib, 75 years old, was rushed to a medical facility one day when she had an abdominal swelling. Doctors first thought that they may have an ovarian tumor, nevertheless the fact was she had a baby developed outside the womb, inside her stomach.

It was the ‘mummy’ baby that has been there for 46 years prior to. Days of excruciating pain followed, then the pain sensation suddenly stopped. Zahra believed in region myth of the ‘sleeping baby’, so put the pregnancy out of her mind, believing infant would be born at a day later.

Aged 75, the agonizing pains returned, but several doctors could not explain them. Then Doctor Taibi Quazzani, who felt the Zahra’s swollen stomach indicated an ovarian tumor, sent her for scans.

The result was shocking: the mass inside Zahra’s stomach was a calcified baby. Unable to become born, the baby –which had developed outside the womb and fused with Zahra’s internal organs – had were killed.
